Bingo Ball > Bingo Balls
If the only bingo you know is the one that's played online, you may not have seen bingo being played the old school way. Historically, bingo had been around for decades now and the first people who got hooked did not have machines to toy around with. Bingo balls are used to draw numbers from containers and the person in charge of the game session calls out the number on the ball, like some sort of lottery. These bingo balls have numbers on them and the cards given to players would have grids with numbers on the as well. The highlight of the game is the pattern that will be formed by marking the numbers on the card. Bingo would have standard patterns that everyone follows. Straight lines, whether diagonal, horizontal or vertical are the most common ones. But now that machines have been invented to make life easier, these bingo balls have gradually become obsolete. You would rarely see a group play bingo using these balls to draw numbers. Although it's not a very modern way to enjoy one of the world's oldest games, it's still nice to at least look back and see what bingo looked like when technology was not even part of anybody's life.
